The Ceylon Fisheries Corporation is a commercial organisation involved in the production and trade of fish. The Ceylon Fisheries Corporation has five main regions: Production; State Supply; Purchasing, Sales and Distribution; and Product Marketing and Sales Promotion Division. The function of the marketing regions is to distribute and sell fish at all the retail outlets. The function of the Production segment is to purchase and supply the requirements of the marketing regions according to consumer demand. State Supply involves supplying fish to state institutions besides government hospitals. Purchasing, Sales and Distribution is mainly involved in purchasing fish from the local suppliers and issue them to both the Corporation regions and the Private trade on a wholesale basis while maintaining the buffer stock. Product Marketing and Sales makes available quantities of frozen fish, cut and packeted from the Cold Room stocks for sale to the consumer through the Corporation retail outlets, Lanka Sathosa outlets, Co-op Cities and Cargills Food Cities. Established in 1964, it is headquartered in Colombo.
