The National Livestock Development Board is primarily involved in developing and marketing livestock and its products. Its operations are divided into three segments: Products, Farms and Bungalows. Its Products segment includes all of the milk products it produces, including fresh milk, eggs, and icecream. In its Farm segment, the NLDB is presently managing 31 livestock and crop integrated farms where livestock and coconut plantations are maintained. The Board also has a training centre at their Gal Pokuna farm to impart practical and theoretical knowledge to farmers. Its Bungalow segment offers circuit bungalows for public reservation in 9 locations all over Sri Lanka. NLDB was established in 1973, and is headquartered in Kottawa, Sri Lanka.
