NSB is a state-owned savings bank in Sri Lanka. It operates in four quintessential segments: Retail banking, Corporate, International Banking and Treasury. Its Retail banking segment provides a full range of products: savings accounts, term deposits, mortgages, personal loans, small business lending, and everyday financial and investment advice. Corporate banking comprises corporate lending, multiple finance, loan syndication, and debt origination as well as risk management products. It offers sources of funding to large corporations, banks, financial institutions, and their subsidiaries as well as state-owned enterprises. Thirdly, the International banking segment offers an array of solutions in relation to foreign currency, engaging activities of foreign currency deposits, inward and outward remittances, foreign currency exchange, issuance of import letter of credit, handling of import bills, and issuance of shipping and air freight guarantees. Treasury and dealing segment engages in investment in Government Securities, equities, FX, repo borrowings, and reverse repo lending. It also carries out fund raising activities through debentures and bonds based on the liquidity requirement of the Bank. It was incorporated in Ceylon in 1971.
