With the largest market share in the industry supplying pharmaceuticals to the nation, SPC’s national role is to serve Sri Lanka by providing safe, efficacious and high quality medicinal products and health services at affordable prices, while promoting the usage of generic drugs. Its services include the Procurement and Supply of Drugs, Laboratory Work, and Awareness Programmes. Its first segment involves distributing drugs to both the private sector market through an open competitive tender procedure and the general public through the State Pharmaceuticals Corp network of Rajya Osu Salas, and other distributors. Its Laboratory work includes testing the drugs, and its Awareness Programmes, which include Programmes for the general public via TV Programmes and brochures, are dedicated to educate people on proper and rational use of drugs and preventive health care. SPC was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Colombo.
