State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation

The State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corp is involved in the business of manufacturing, processing, stocking, packing, repacking and marketing of drugs. Its operations are divided into five segments: Production, Quality control, Formulation Research & Development, Marketing and Other Services. Its Production segment is involved in manufacturing pharmaceutical drugs and conducting initial and in-process testing of the products. The Quality Control (QC) Department is an independent internal regulatory body of the SPMC. Its overall function includes both Quality Control and monitoring of Quality assurance processes of the organisation by implementing a total quality management system and good manufacturing practices. The Formulation R&D segment is primarily involved in the development of new products and introducing them to the current manufacturing stream, and improving existing products. The Marketing segment distributes its drugs throughout its network and also abroad, to destinations including Egypt, Myanmar, Bangladesh and other countries. Other services include its Finance, Engineering and Audit departments. Established in 1987, its headquarters are in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka.
