Six investors have expressed interest in buying stakes in SriLankan Airlines, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva said.
“A pre-bid meeting is held before, for the purpose of providing more information for the investors. In one such meeting, six investors have expressed their interest in buying stake,” De Silva said. “Since the investors are familiarising themselves with the information, they have submitted an Expression of Interest to extend the deadline, to the middle of January.”
He said that by May the government would be able to choose a suitable investor for the airline and turn it into a more resilient aviation service provider – and carry out the restructuring process.
