Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange availability has increased over the past two months and essential importers are finding more money on their own, Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe said.
“The demand for dollars for essential imports from our resources has reduced, that is because they can find the money from banks,” Governor Weerasinghe said.
“If there is a shortage we will give from our resources. From what we see now there is no big shortages within the banking system.”
The central bank bought 103 million dollars in December than it sold back.
