Sri Lanka to open airport services to private sector

Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers had given approval to amend the Civil Aviation law of the country to allow public private partnerships in aviation services, a government statement said.

Section 6 (3) e of the Civil Aviation Act currently requires providers of aviation services at airports in Sri Lanka to have a majority government holding.

The cabinet had given the nod to appoint “one or more as service providers” for the provision of aviation services”.
